It's about Shaderlight 0.3 on 3DS Max Design 2010 x64 on Windows 7 x64. It seems plugins registered well, Shaderlight is visible as Export utility and optional renderer. Well, but every scene while exported opens Shaderlight window what stays plain black for ever with "importing scene..." subtitle. Is it a bug or do I do something wrong? Any ideas?
See the attached screenshot for better understanding... |

Hi Ziggizag, The chances are thatr this is a simple issue that you don't have any lights in your scene. Shaderlight doesn't use the 3ds Max "default" lights, so you must place your own lights into the scene before you render. If this doesn't cure your problem then let me know and we'll see if you have another issue. Doc. |

Indeed!
You were right, after adding custom lights to scene Shaderlight rendered is giving good output.
What is confusing anyway is in my humble opinion the status message:
"Finished in 3.4159s. Importing scene..."
This message looks like program still doing something (importing scene actually) and it confuses the end-user as when closing the Shaderlight window the error message appears in the export utility. Only later on I realized that the render window is auto-updated (synchronized) to scene and it is controlled by the checkbox... I believe more clear status message would be less confusing (e.g. instead of "importing scene" I would suggest soemthing like "Waiting for scene update").
And last but not least: A BIG PITY SHADERLIGHT FOR 3DS MAX DOES NOT SUPPORT RENDER TO TEXTURE FUNCTIONALITY !!! I would say - dynamic scene update with MELT would be DELICIOUS for scene baking. Really!
Thanks anyway for your prompt answer ! Rgs, Ziggi |
