ArtVPS announce the release of Shaderlight 2017

8 November 2016

A new version of Shaderlight, the simple to use rendering plugin for Trimble SketchUp, has been launched today.  The new release fully supports SketchUp 2017 and includes some new features and fixes to make rendering faster and simpler with Shaderlight.

Shaderlight 2017 is available to try and buy from http://www.artvps.com today and customers who purchased Shaderlight from September 1st 2016 will receive a FREE upgrade to this new release for a limited time.  Existing customers not eligible for a free upgrade will receive a 25% discount when upgrading to the new release.

Kate Jackson, Marketing Director at ArtVPS, explains what’s new. “Shaderlight 2017 is available hot on the heels of the release of SketchUp 2017 so that our customers can upgrade today.  In addition to SketchUp 2017 support we have introduced a much requested new feature to improve the realism of renders, the ability to render soft shadows for point lights and spot lights within Shaderlight.”

“Shaderlight 2017 also includes some fixes that will improve the usability of Shaderlight both on Windows and Mac platforms and work continues to enhance the performance of rendering with Shaderlight.”

What’s new in Shaderlight 2017?

  • Full support for SketchUp 2017.

  • Soft shadows for point lights and spot lights: You can now specify a diameter for point lights and spot lights, which will produce soft-edged shadows when set above zero. The larger the diameter, the softer the shadows will be.

  •  Fix a problem where slider controls in the Shaderlight dialogs didn't work on some Windows configurations.

  •  Fix a problem which caused Shaderlight’s automatic material enhancements not to work with SketchUp models created in SketchUp 2016.

  •  Fix a problem which caused incorrect shadows from area lights in certain situations.
