Shaderlight 2018 released today

Shaderlight Ltd, the developers of the popular rendering plugin for Trimble SketchUp, are pleased to announce the release of Shaderlight 2018.  The new release fully supports the latest update to SketchUp also released today.

In addition to SketchUp 2018 compatibility, Shaderlight 2018 features a new transparent material feature designed to deliver greatly enhanced realism when rendering transparent materials such as large bodies of water and thick, solid glass objects.

Shaderlight 2018 uses a new physically-based model to calculate the absorption of light as it travels through a body of transparent material, such as glass or water. The apparent transparency of an object now depends on the SketchUp opacity setting and on the thickness of the object, as well as its colour.

Kate Jackson, Commercial Director at Shaderlight, said, “Shaderlight 2018 follows hot on the heels of SketchUp 2018, so users upgrading to the latest SketchUp release can start using Shaderlight straight away.  We are excited to include our new transparent material feature in the release which delivers an exceptional improvement for users looking to create more realism when rendering glass or water.”

Kate continues. “In addition, Shaderlight 2018 also includes our recent feature update, launched just last month, support for the popular Skatter plugin to SketchUp.”
